This research aims to explore learning rhythmic musical instruments based on the Merdeka Curriculum at SMK Negeri 7 Padang, which is a performing arts education institution with a Minangkabau cultural background. The background of the problem includes low mastery of the material and student involvement in the learning process. The research method used is qualitative with an analytical descriptive approach, where researchers conducted observations for four meetings to describe the phenomena that occurred. The results showed that although students showed varied enthusiasm, many of them still had difficulties in understanding the technique of playing rhythmic musical instruments. Student engagement is influenced by the teaching methods used, where interactive and engaging methods can increase student motivation and satisfaction. This study concludes that to improve the effectiveness of learning rhythmic musical instruments, it is necessary to implement more innovative learning strategies and support a positive learning environment. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of music education curriculum and practice in Indonesia, as well as encourage the improvement of the quality of performing arts education in the future
